Karim Rashid’s New Lamp at Maison et Objet 2016

This year, Martinelli Luce is introducing a new table lamp at Maison et Objet Paris, designed by renowned designer Karim Rashid: Cyborg.

The structure of the lamp is of cast aluminum painted in colors cyan, lime, grey and natural aluminum color.

“While you were dreaming, Cyborg beamed down from above and landed on your bed side table. The small, die-cast aluminum lamp responds to human contact thanks to touch-sensitive controls. Thanks to the digital age we have new technologies, production processes, materials, software and tools allowing me to create sensual and organic shapes, like Cyborg” says Karim Rashid.

Karim Rashid is one of the most prolific designers of his generation. Over 3000 designs in production, over 300 awards and working in over 40 countries attest to Karim’s legend of design.

Karim’s touch expands beyond product to interiors decoration ideas such as the Morimoto restaurant, Philadelphia; Semiramis hotel, Athens; Universita Metro Station, Naples as well as exhibition design for Deutsche Bank and Audi. Karim’s work is featured in 20 permanent collections and he exhibits art in galleries worldwide.
