Axis Mundi is a small, interdisciplinary design firm in New York. Since 2003, Axis Mundi has been providing personalized and distinctive solutions to a wide range of clients, with a particular emphasis on residential interior design. “While we have obtained awards and recognition for our creative work, we are most proud of our relationships with clients, and repeat clients, who are making this a better world. We are passionate about design that informs, clarifies, persuades, and communicates the possibilities of working together for positive change.” say Axis Mundi.
One of the best design project of Axis Mundi – is an apartment having rooms on two floors that are connected by an inner staircase.
Axis Mundi was in charge of a complete gut renovation of a one-bedroom duplex (675 sq.fr) in the Meatpacking District, Manhattan. One of the outstanding features of the space is the dramatic arched window which fills the space with light. The space were reconfigured, a new kitchen and powder room was designed, new plank flooring was installed on both levels. Axis Mundi designed a custom folded and cantilevered steel staircase which leads to the upper level. A sandblasted glass railing preserves privacy yet allows light to filter into the upper bedroom level. On the upper level the entire façade of the master bathroom is sandblasted glass.
