WEST SIDE PENTHOUSE
To take a towering glass box penthouse in an iconic New York City tower to new heights, Workshop/APD redefined its public and private interior spaces to honor breathtaking views of the Hudson River. The modern pied-a-terre’s gleaming white interiors, designed to highlight an enviable art collection, are further elevated by luxurious, layered textiles and rugs, dramatic lighting, and dynamic architectural forms that extend to an expansive rooftop terrace.
FIFTH AVENUE DUPLEX
Workshop/APD combined two smaller apartments and was able to open up the heart of this now-iconic family residence, pushing primary activity spaces toward its windows and the lush, leafy views of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A spectacular curving spiral staircase leads from the main area to the master suite in this bi-level home, creating a haven of calm in New York City.
UPPER EAST SIDE RESIDENCE
Steps from Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum, and New York’s best shops, restaurants and galleries, Workshop/APD completely renovated the interior of an Upper East Side apartment and transformed it into a true collectors’ haven featuring dramatic architectural details, one-of-a-kind custom and gallery-level furnishings, and exceptional finishes selected to complement the exquisitely curated artwork.
DOWNTOWN LOFT
In one of the West Village’s most stylish addresses, chic decor meets industrial modernism in this interior design project by Workshop/APD. Designed as a part-time residence for a young family, a dramatic entry in deep gray Venetian plaster opens into an airy, expansive open-plan living area furnished in light, layered neutral tones to contrast and complement exposed brick and dark metal accents.
CHELSEA COLLECTORS’ RESIDENCE
In close proximity to the galleries of Chelsea, Workshop/APD designed this fashionable family residence boasts high ceilings, ample natural light and sweeping New York City views that include both the Empire State Building and Hudson Yards. Each subtle, sophisticated space is thoughtfully designed to highlight the family’s enviable art collection, with a unique mix of materials, textures and a cool tonal color palette.
CENTRAL PARK WEST RESIDENCE
On Central Park, Workshop/APD selected a holistic material palette and sculptural, architectural forms and elements to create a minimalist escape within a pre-war envelope rich in Art Deco detail. The residence’s gallery-like design flows seamlessly from one space to the next, visually expanding its rooms and setting the scene for effortless entertaining.
WEST VILLAGE LOFT
A fashion designer and her husband engaged Workshop/APD to create a comfortable yet luxurious first home in a soaring Printing House apartment. The team scoured global fashion capitals for glamorous fabrics and furnishings in a masterful mix of hues and textures and created a spacious walk-in closet and dressing room for her collection.
COLUMBUS CIRCLE RESIDENCE
This art-filled Columbus Circle pied-a-terre for an international client was designed by Workshop/APD to provide the comfort and convenience of a five-star hotel. A unified, simplified visual language, including a limited palette of materials and finishes and the repetition of linear architectural details, creates a modern frame for its Central Park views.
